“There was a really amazing moment for me, I think it was my junior year at USC, when I was in the theater conservatory, that he [Donald Bellisario - her dad] came up to me after a play, after seeing me in a play and he looked at me and said, ‘Yeah, you can do this and you will!’ And it was this massive moment in my life. I obviously broke down into tears cause, you know, it is kind of like a guy getting his father’s blessing to go marry some girl.”
“I can tell from the way Shay [Mitchell] is walking 5 feet in front of me if she’s having a bad day or I can tell by the way Lucy [Hale] sighs that she’s thinking about something and I know what to ask. We have so many inside jokes right now, we just don’t even have to talk to each other we, just crack up laughing. We give the look.” - Troian Bellisario.
troian on her dad, donald bellisario - it’s be a really, really interesting relationship through my whole life. at first I was always on a set, i was raised on a set and he would always tell me “look around, look at all the actors you see because these are the lucky ones, these are the working ones.” so i always had that ingrained in me. and then as i got older, he really wanted to push me in the direction of writing. he was always very supportive, but he always keeps me grounded… like when we go out to dinner, i’m like, “you know dad, we had 4 million viewers!” and he’s like, “that’s so sweet, honey… i have 21.”
